So a few months ago I jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, and am SOOOOO disappointed that it wasn’t around sooner!! Pinterest would have been my lifesaver in 2010 when I was planning our wedding! Haha! But of course, I still have plenty of uses for it now, including boards for my personal style, ideas for a bridal shower I’m hosting this summer, ideas for our new rental house, and a sizable collection of ideas for a modern wedding (hey, we’ll renew our vows eventually, right??)
It’s that last board, called A Quad Deuce Occasion, that I want to share with you today. There are a few finds that particularly inspire me as a designer. You’ll notice a lot of cakes on this board. I’m directly blaming this fact on my seemingly insatiable sweet tooth! The dramatic black stripes and bold red flowers of the following cake by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes really grabbed me. I want to design a stationery suite (I almost typed “sweet” just then!) around this gorgeous edible! Little fabric flowers on top of luxurious white paper with a bold striped envelope liner…

I also found a pin of this A-MAZ-ING dress by Alexander McQueen! I showed it to my husband and said if we got married again, I was going to wear it, but he looked at me like I was a teensy bit crazy. Ah, who cares! It’s gorgeous! Were we to do the event over again, I’d definitely wear something other than white. What I liked most about this dress was the ornate gold detailing combined with the texture of the ruffles. I’m envisioning a gold-embroidered black silk pocketfold invitation mailed in a black or gold ruffle-lined box…

And lastly there was this image from the Restaurant Aria in Toronto. The picture is from Moooi, the company that designed the place (architecture, interior design, or both, I can’t really tell). All I know is I hope the food is as amazing as the room! Would love to create an invitation for an event here. It would be modern design magic, I tell you! Lots of unique elements to incorporate.
That’s a little glimpse at some of my inspiration for the day. Inspiration can come from anywhere, if you’ll only open up your eyes and look!
